Dear Workforce Development Professionals,

Over the past two months, it has been amazing to watch our workforce development professional community come together to help the millions of people who are displaced and unemployed.  Your dedication to the profession and to the citizens of your community, country, and the world is unmatched.  Thank you for all you do on the hidden front lines of this pandemic.

We were hoping that the Workforce Development Conference, scheduled for June 28-July 1, 2020 in Pittsburgh, would be an opportunity for you to recharge and learn new skills to take back to the front lines.  However, after many weeks of carefully monitoring COVID-19 developments, including ongoing conversations with our host hotel, it has become clear that Pittsburgh will not be open and ready to host groups in late June and therefore, the 2020 Workforce Development Conference must be canceled.

We thank you and everyone involved in holding this event, including sponsors, chapter and chapter leaders, members, past presidents, international associates, speakers, volunteers, conference planning team, and attendees, for your dedication and flexibility.

When workforce development professionals come together at the WDC, it’s an amazing experience filled with industry leading speakers, learning application, the sharing of best practices, and connecting and reconnecting with friends and colleagues from across the US and the world.  We want to capture all those things and present them to you in a re-imagined way.  Watch www.workforceconference.com, our social media outlets, and your email for details coming in June on this new event.

Until then you can connect with your workforce development colleagues during IAWP’s Social Hour, each Wednesday starting at 4:30 PM pacific/7:30 PM eastern.  Click here for more details.

And not to worry, YES, the Workforce Development Conference will return in 2021 and our plan is to host the conference in Pittsburgh!

For those of you who have paid your registration, there is no need to contact us.  We will soon be in touch with three options for you to choose from for your registration:

  1. Carry over your registration to WDC2021 (and lock in this year’s rates!)
  2. Donate your registration fee to IAWP’s Education Fund
  3. Request a full refund

As we look forward, our commitment to supporting you is our number one priority. This is a critical time for workforce and economic development across the United States and the world.  Please let us know how we can support you, your team, and your organization.

Thank you for the care and understanding you’ve shown during these challenging times and all you do for your local communities.
